As Bet Dwarka is now connected to road through recently inaugurated Sudarshan setu, the Gujarat government has approved four new bus routes of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) to connect Bet Dwarka with mainland Gujarat.
The buse route Amreli – Bet Dwarka will connect Bet Dwarka to Amreli, Atkot, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Khambhaliya, Bhatiya and Dwarka. The bus will leave Amreli at 5 am and reach Bet Dwarka at 2.10 pm. The same bus will leave Bet Dwarka at 2.30 pm to reach Amreli at 11.45 pm. The other bus will be from Mansa. It will leave Mansa in North Gujarat at 5.30 pm and reach Bet Dwarka at 5.50 am via Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Dhrol, Jamnagar, Khambhaliya and Dwarka. The same bus will start return journey from Bet Dwarka at 2.50 pm.
Bet Dwarka could be until last week only accessed via boats. Thanks to Sudarshan bridge, initiated and completed by Narendrabhai Modi led government in the Centre, the island will for the first time witness arrival of buses. As the vehicles so far could be brought in to the island only via boats, there were only two-wheelers and three-wheelers in the island. Now a vehicle as large as bus will for the first time move on this island.
