The government employees in Gujarat have given an ultimatum of Mar 4 to the government to resolve their issues. Since the demands of the employees were not fulfilled even after their protests last week, the employees have decided to halt all the online processes with effect to Mar 4, if their demands are not met.
To mitigate the fixed salary system and implement the old pension scheme, the government employees staged a protest. However, no solution has been reached yet, agitating the unions.
The government employees wore black clothes on Feb 14-15 over their issues and also held group protests in Gandhinagar on Feb 23.
According to the Employees Union, if their demands are not met, or a solution is not reached by Mar 4, all government employees will stop the online processes from Mar 6, including panchayats and municipalities, where tax-related work, birth and death registrations are likely to be affected.
Govt employees’ demands
The union has sought to resolve two basic issues before the government, which are…
- In addition to the implementation of the old pension scheme, the fixed salary system should be abolished and the employees should be made permanent with full salary.
- Providing the benefits of the 7th Pay Commission, including dearness allowance and house rent allowance by the Centre’s standards.
