On Monday, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that students will have the option to take 10th and 12th class board examinations twice a year starting from the academic session 2025-26.
He highlighted that one of the objectives of the newly introduced National Education Policy (NEP), unveiled in 2020, was to alleviate academic pressure on students.
Pradhan made these remarks while launching the PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme in Chhattisgarh, aimed at upgrading 211 schools in the state. The event took place at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay auditorium in Raipur.
Highlighting the Centre’s plan under the NEP 2020, Pradhan said from the 2025- 26 academic session, students will get an opportunity to ap- pear for 10th and 12th class board exams twice.
According to the Nev Curriculur Framewor (NCF) ar nounced b the Ministr of Educatio in August las year, board examinations wi be held at least twice a yea to ensure that students hav enough time and opportunit to perform well. They wil also get the option to retai the best score.
Asking students present a the function if they wer happy with the decision, th Union minister told them t keep the best marks obtaine after appearing in both exams “Prime Minister Narendr Modi ji’s vision through th NEP is to keep students stress free, enrich them with qualit education, keep student linked with culture and pre pare them for the future. Thi is the formula for makin India a developed country b 2047,” he added
