As the board exams for Classes 10 and 12 (Science and Commerce) are set to commence on Mar 11, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) has finalised the 1,773 exam centres throughout the state.
Out of these, 981 centres where the exams will be conducted are to be of Class 10, while 547 centres will be of Class 12 commerce streams and 147 of science streams.
Last year, the exams were conducted in 1,623 centres, including 958 of Class 10, 140 of 12 science stream, and 525 of 12 commerce.
An addition of 150 new centres is announced in this year’s board exams, including 26 centres for Class 10, 12 for Class 12 commerce, and 7 for Class 12 science. From these, 54 are main, while the remaining ones are sub-centres.
Several talukas and villages, where students had to travel to distant locations for their exams, are allotted a centre or sub-centre this year as per the examination committee’s recommendations.
Meanwhile, 433 central paper checking centres are also allocated, which is 71 more centres than last year.
186 of these paper checking centres are of Class 10, while 183 are of Class 12 commerce, and 64 are of science. As part of the paper-checking process, teachers will also be notified after their online registration.
The state board will also shortly issue the exam hall ticket to the students for this year’s board exam.
