The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), the premier industry chamber committed to strengthening Indo-US economic partnership, will establish ‘Centres of Excellence’ for MSMEs to help them scale up, improve quality and adopt good manufacturing practices to acquire competitive edge for the global markets.
This was announced by Pankaj Bohra, National President of IACC, at the programme on “Quality Aspect That Indian MSMEs Need to Address for USA Market”, organised by the IACC Gujarat Branch in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
“IACC is committed to supporting the MSMEs. We have entered into a MOU with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and will be starting Centres of Excellence for MSMEs to impart training and handhold them to make them future ready for exports.” Pankaj Bohra said.
The chairperson of the IACC Gujarat branch, Ms Kusum Kaul Vyas, emphasized on adoption of emerging technologies by the Indian MSMEs.
The programme also witnessed an insightful panel discussion, moderated by GESIA’s immediate past chairman Tejinder Oberoi.
In his remarks during the panel discussion, Satish Patel, CEO & Founder of Analytix Solutions, a leading knowledge processing outsourcing provider, said,“The US is the largest economy in the world and 90% of the business is driven by SMEs. If Indian SMEs plan to grow but are not focusing on the US, they are missing out on a large chunk of the business. However, it is important to understand the mindset and business culture, which are very different from those in India, when catering to businesses in the US.”
Dr Rajeev Sharma, Director, EDII, emphasized the need for Indian MSMEs to move up the value chain.
“Be it services, software, or traditional industries like textiles or leather, Indian MSMEs are unable to achieve higher value addition in the supply chain. They need to be more consistent with the quality of their goods and services.
John Mathew, COO of Analytix Solutions, said that the SME market in the US is worth $55 billion and growing at 8% annually, offering a tremendous opportunity for SMEs in India.
GESIA was the ecosystem partner for the programme.
