The AMTS has decided to expand its operational limit from 15km to 20km radius from the city center. This decision will benefit the residents of Adalaj, Thol, and Godhavi, as these areas will now be covered under the AMTS route.
These plans were revealed in the AMTS budget for 2024–25, presented on Saturday. The original draft budget of Rs 641.5 crore was adjusted to Rs 673.5 crore in the final version.
AMTS intends to introduce 59 electric buses and six double-decker buses. The operational range of AMTS buses has been extended from 15 km to 20 km beyond the corporation limits, encompassing satellite service areas, as announced by AMTS chairman Dharamsingh Desai during the budget presentation.
The bus routes will be streamlined with the assistance of a consulting firm. Circular routes are planned to connect passengers to the metro network, and the implementation of real-time bus tracking and live status updates is on the agenda.
