Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) airport registered passenger traffic of nearly 1.16 cr people in 2023, a number that narrows down to a daily passenger traffic of 32,000.
Nearly a decade ago, the SVP airport had passenger traffic of 48.09 lakh in 2014, which is seen to have spiked by 2.5 times.
The number of annual domestic travellers has spiked by 170%, while the number of international travellers has increased by 60%.
Ahmedabad’s SVP airport registered a staggering traffic of 10 lakh passengers during January, March, and May 2023.
In recent cases, December saw a total of 9.91 lakh travellers, including 1.93 lakh international and 7.98 lakh domestic.
During this month, the airport saw traffic of 1,155 international and 6,340 domestic flights.
Thus, on average, each international flight carried 167 passengers, while each domestic flight had 126 passengers.
To manage this passenger traffic, the check-in counters at the airport have also increased to 40, while the checking area has also been increased by 30%.
