The five-minute helicopter joy ride (VT-DXF) from Sabarmati Riverfront to Science City in city has been temporarily suspended due to safety concerns. With the Uttarayan approaching and increased kite-flying activities around residential areas, the joy ride will be halted this Saturday-Sunday.
The decision comes after a kite string got entangled in the helicopter’s wings during a joy ride last week, resulting in a two-and-a-half-hour pause. The Joy Ride Helicopter, accommodating 5 passengers, experienced the kite string entanglement shortly after takeoff. The pilot promptly returned, and the engineering team spent two and a half hours removing the cord stuck in the wing.
Typically operating on weekends at a height of 1500 feet, the Joy Ride service will be closed for two days during Uttarayan for safety reasons. Customers with advance bookings can choose to reschedule or receive a full refund.
