Averting a major loot in the jewellery shops in Ahmedabad’s key locations, the crime branch has nabbed a gang from UP. Acting on a tip-off, Ahmedabad crime branch team detained a total of six suspicious people staying near a museum in the city’s Paldi area.
The primary investigation of police revealed that the members were in Ahmedabad for labour. On checking their belongings, three pistols, seven cartridges, and other weapons were found.
The people were identified as Shahid Ali Pathan, Rajendrasinh Javat, Lekhraj Yadav, Satyaram Yadav, and Ravi Alvi, all residents of Uttar Pradesh. In the primary investigation of the detainees, the police learned that the gang was set to loot jewellery shops on CG Road, Sindhu Bhavan, Shivranjani, and other areas.
To avoid suspicion, the gang members used to stay on the streets in the open and claimed that they were in the city for labour work. The members avoided a stay in the hotel to avert any police checking. Notably, two motorcycles were also found by the police from the gang members.
The members were analysing the areas and were about to loot the jewellery shops, expecting that the police system would have been occupied in Vibrant Gujarat Summit preparations.
The culprits were even ready to open fire and kill people during their theft. Notably, a total of 55 crimes have been registered on their names in UP
