Daily COVID-19 cases were once again reported across the state amidst the looming threat of a new variant, JN.1
Ahmedabad registered six new COVID-19 cases on Dec 22 in areas like Navrangpura, Bodakdev, and Thaltej in the city’s western part.
One of the patients has a travel history of Singapore, while the other travelled to Maharashtra’s Pune.
Currently, the city has 18 active coronavirus cases, all of whom are under home isolation. Four of the patients are male, and two are female.
With the addition of new cases in the city’s western part, areas that have registered COVID-19 cases till now include Jodhpur, Paldi, Ghatlodiya, Navrangpura, Naranpura, Thaltej, and Sarkhej.
New cases in Gujarat
Ahmedabad contributed six out of the total nine new cases registered throughout the state in the last 24 hours, as reported on Dec 22.
The addition of these new cases has shot up the number of active cases in the state to 32. As of Dec 21, the state had 23 active cases.
Till now, Gujarat has registered a total of 12.91 lakh COVID-19 cases since the spread of the virus. In these cases, 12.80 lakh patients have recovered, while 11,080 have died.
As per medical practitioners, the surge is not a matter of worry. Dr Mukesh Maheshwari of the Ahmedabad Medical Association said, “Any person facing cold-fever-headache-like issues for a long period should get tested as per a doctor’s advice.”
