A a resident from the Satellite area has claimed that two policemen extorted Rs 1,000 from him. The alleged extortion took place under the pretext of implicating him in a betting case, as the officers found “fantasy cricket” app on his phone.
Dharmesh Gajjar, the individual in question, took to Instagram on Sunday to share the incident, stating that while he was seated near Bimanagar on Saturday morning, the officers approached him, seized his phone, and began inspecting his WhatsApp messages.
the police, upon finding the app on his phone, accused him of engaging in betting activities. Initially demanding Rs 2,000 to release him, Gajjar mentioned in his Instagram post that, as he had no balance in his account, the officers seized his wallet, taking the Rs 1,000 in cash it contained. Gajjar’s post gained widespread attention but was later deleted on Sunday.
Gajjar Said, “I have made the allegation as I am the victim. However, I do not wish to proceed further on the matter.”
