A recent study conducted on Ahmedabad’s lakes, including those at Vastrapur, Chadola, Sola, Makarba, Ramol, Vejalpur, Danilimda, Vatva, and Chandekheda, has revealed alarming pollution levels and signs of degradation.
The study indicates that four of these lakes have lost 10% or more of their area in the past decade. Revamping efforts, which introduced ornamental plants, have damaged the lakes’ original vegetation. Additionally, these lakes, now popular tourist destinations, are witnessing the accumulation of chemical and plastic waste, exacerbating the environmental concerns.
