The Ahmedabad traffic police has decided to increase its manpower to 2,100 personnel, including traffic police, home guard and Traffic Brigade Force (TBR), from the current 1,500 to ease traffic and get hold of violators in the city during Navratri as the city saw a rise in traffic jams on the first two days of the festival.
From October 19 to 23, during the remaining days of the Navratri festival, Ahmedabad city will have 2,100 men consisting of traffic police, home guard
and Traffic Brigade Force (TBR) among which 1,500 are existing forces and 600 more officers have been deployed for Navratri festival.
All traffic jawans to use radium life-jackets and light batons (while working at night). police also deployed speed guns for the people doing stunts or overspeeding. For monitoring ‘Romeos’, along with She-Team, local law enforcement officers will also be present in civil dress.
The DCP also mentioned that 149 breath analysers and 39 speed guns will be put to use to book the offenders.
