An 18-year-old boy stabbed his friend to death and drove his blood-soaked body to a police station in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad and admitted to the heinous crime. While the accused has been identified as Vedant Raja, the deceased identified as 22-year-old Swapnil Prajapati.
Vedant drove his car to the Sola police station in police station around 4 am on Sunday and told the cops that it had a body. “After stabbing Swapnil Prajapati multiple times causing his death, Vedant drove to the police station. After he informed about the body lying in the car, the cops, who were on duty, swung into action. The officers found the deceased lying on the front seat of Vedant’s SUV,” a senior police officer said.
An FIR was filed under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the probe was initiated. During the probe, it was revealed that both Vedant and Swapnil were in love with the same girl. “A case against Vedant has been filed and the reason behind him killing Swapnil is a girl with whom they both were in love. We are probing all the angles,” the officer added.
“Vedant himself helped us to identify the body of the deceased. Swapnil had at least 8 deep cuts on his body. The body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem examination,” he said. According to the officer, Swapnil and Vedant had a long-standing dispute as they were in love with the same girl. “Vedant asked Swapnil to meet him near Vishwakarma Bridge on Saturday evening. During the meeting, the duo had a heated argument and Vedant stabbed Swapnil multiple times with a sharp knife,” the cop said.
