A lion safari park will soon come up at the Gujarat-Diu border. The Gujarat Forest Department has initiated the process for the the project. Government authorities have already enlisted an architect to design this park, which is expected to be a significant attraction for visitors to Diu and those travelling along the coastal highway.
This park will be home to zoo-bred lions and aims to replicate the ambiance of Sasan Gir. While the Ambardi safari park near Dhari was initially designed for visitors to Diu and Tulsishyam, it was observed that many tourists preferred the coastal highway route. Therefore, the new safari park will feature two lion pairs, four cubs, and other hooved animals, providing an experience reminiscent of Sasan Gir.
For this project, the department doesn’t need to acquire additional land since there is already a forested area just 7.7 kilometres from Diu. The plan is to offer both bus and jeep safaris to enhance the experience.
The work will commence on this new safari park as soon as the architect submits their report.
