Ahmedabad Police Commissioner has through an order made it mandatory for rickshaws/taxi/cab operators to showcase the details of the vehicle owner and driver’s name and the number of police helpline, women’s helpline and traffic helpline behind the seat of driver.
The writing should be in English and on a 12 inch by 10 inch sized board in 13 mm font size with 30 mm space between two lines. The details must be written using oil paint or permanent marker pen. While the name of the driver can be written using an erasable sketch pen, because drivers keep changing in the same vehicle when it is taxi/cab/rickshaw.
The auto rickshaw/taxi/cab owners are required to complete the above task by 31st October this year.From 1st November, police will start filing complaints against those who fail to do this.
The decision according to the city police has been taken in connection with a recent incident of loot in Sola area and subsequent observations by the High Court which took suo motu cognizance of the incident.
