Ganesh Chaturthi 2023 Significance
Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the biggest festivals of Hindus. This festival starts from Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha and continue till Ananta Chaturdashi. This festival is also known as Ganeshotsav and celebrated all over the country with great pomp and show. Lord Ganesha is considered as the god of wisdom, wealth and fortune. The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is mainly celebrated in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Goa and Telangana.
On the day os Chaturthi Tithi, one must avoid sighting moon as it is considered inauspicious. It is believed that by sighting moon on the day of Chaturthi Tithi, one can suffer from Mithya Dosha or curse.
Ganesh Chaturthi 2023: Puja Rituals
- Wake up early and take a bath and wear nice clean clothes.
- Take a wooden plank, cover it with red or yellow cloth and and decorate it with flowers.
- Sprinkle Ganga Jal and then place an idol of Lord Ganesha.
- Light a diya, Put haldi and kumkum tilak, offer Laddoo or Modak, yellow flowers, Meetha Paan, Paan supari laung, 5 types of dry fruits, 5 types of fruits and offer clothes to Lord Ganesha.
- Start puja rituals with “Om Gan Ganpataye Namah” Mantra.
- Recite Bindayak Katha, Shree Ganesh Stotram and chant Ganesh Aarti.
- Some people organise kirtan and bhajans at home and celebrate the home coming of lord Ganesha.
