Surat Municipal Corporation will allot 30 e-buses to the Statue of Unity greater tourism area out of the 225 e-buses to be received from the Central government arm CESL.
CESL has floated tenders for allotting a total of 5,450 buses to nine cities in the country through the Ministry of Heavy Industries of the central government. Surat City will receive e-buses as part of the same.
A total of 225 e-buses are operated in Surat at present. SMC has placed an order for an additional 225 e-buses. In addition to the 225 buses, SMC will get 20 percent more buses, equivalent to 30 e-buses, as per the conditions provisioned in the tender.
The Statue of Unity authority has asked to give these surplus 30 e-buses for the visitors of the Statue of Unity’s greater tourism area. The demand was approved by the standing committee of the SMC
