The the Gujarat Pollution Control Board has issued closure notices to 30 factories in Ahmedabad. These notices were served to chemical and textile processing facilities located in Danilimda, Behrampura, and Vatva after the GPCB found illegal effluent discharge into the river.
some units in Danilimda and Behrampura, which claimed to have zero liquid-discharge systems in place, received notices when irregularities were detected in their systems. certain units were found to be illegally discharging effluent into the Amdavad Municipal Corporation’s drainage lines.
As of now, none of the closed units have resumed production activities. Both the GPCB and the AMC have taken stringent actions against polluting units in recent months.
The megaline, which transports effluent water from Naroda, Odhav, and Vatva, has met the desired COD (chemical oxygen demand) standards. Still, the board intends to continue inspecting industrial areas and taking action against polluting units.
