As the monsoon has taken a break, the prices of Tomatoes have started falling across state.
Tomatoes have started arriving in the market again in a good number and therefore the price has gone down from a peak of Rs. 230 per kg in July to just Rs. 55 per kg now.
Every year the prices of vegetables go up during the rainy season of monsoon due to several factors including, rise in pests, logistics, transportation related limitations and water logging in farms. Once the rainy period ends, the prices again come to the earlier levels.
The locally produced Tomatoes are now back in the market in sufficient quantity, following which, a 20 kg rate has gone down to the range of Rs. 900 to Rs. 1000. The prices of other varieties of vegetables have also eased and gone down by around 35 percent.
