A 31-year-old man filed a complaint with the Cybercrime police alleging that cyber crooks cheated him of Rs 2 lakh in the garb of work-from- home assignments.
Rajarshi Patel, a resident of Sola, said in his FIR that he works as a project manager with an architecture firm in Usmanpura. On July 25, he got a message from an unknown number offering him a work-from-home assignment in lieu of good returns. Patel responded to the message and was added to a Telegram group first, and later was registered on a website.
Patel got Rs 150 for liking certain YouTube videos as told by fraudsters on the Telegram group. Patel was also told to invest money which was supposed to be doubled after each task and he kept investing money through UPI transfers.
Patel ultimately paid Rs 1.81 lakh but when he sought to withdraw money from the website on which an account was created and his income was shown, he was not allowed
Cybercrime police registered
a complaint of cheating, breach of trust and criminal conspiracy along with the Information Technology Act.
