The Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation will soon start 18 new ‘Garvi-Gurjari’ emporiums across the country, including at religious-tourist places, to promote the sale of handicraft items.
A total of 13 new ‘Garvi-Gurjari’ emporiums will be opened in Gujarat, including Surat, Palanpur, Palitana, Jamnagar, Valsad, Vapi, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Dakor, Somnath, Ambaji, Navsari, Morbi and Pavagadh. Most of these places are of religious and tourist interests. the steps have been taken to start new Garvi-Gurjari emporiums in Udaipur, Nathdwara and Jaipur in Rajasthan, Mumbai and Pune in Maharashtra outside Gujarat.
At present, there are 20 ‘Garvi-Gurjari’ emporiums, including 13 in Gujarat and seven outside Gujarat, in addition to an e-store. GSHHDC runs the emporiums to promote the handicrafts and artisans of the state by selling the products.
