Sola police filed a complaint against a man from Sabarkantha who produced a fake death certificate of his brother-in-law for parole extension during hearing of his plea before the Gujarat high court.
A convict named Bipin Sharma had in June submitted a death certificate of his brother-in-law for bail extension in April. Sharma had got a parole on April 23, 2023 for some medical treatment of a relative. He had later extended his parole on the grounds of attending a family court proceedings and medical emergencies on four occasions.
During the verification of the death certificate, it was found out that the doctor, who signed in the death certificate, had died in 2021. The doctor’s son stated that the certificate was not issued by his father.
After the certificate was found as the fake, the Gujarat high court on July 5 directed the registrar general to lodge a complaint with the concerned police. The court also directed the police to investigate the case.
On July 20, Pillai moved a plea before the Sola police to inquire into the case.
After conducting the necessary inquiry, the Sola police on Saturday filed a complaint of producing false evidence, cheating, punishment for forgery, forgery of valuable security, forgery for purpose of cheating and using forged documents as genuine against Sharma.
