Passengers on a Delhi-Ahmedabad SpiceJet flight had to suffer on Thursday as the air conditioning system did not work. From the time of boarding to the final take off, the AC was not turned on for about one and a half hours, so it was like suffocating.
There were many senior citizens and childrens in this flight. they repeatedly requested to turn on the AC. But the flight staff was ignoring their demand. many of the passengers, perturbed by the heat, waved papers to catch the breeze.
There were about 192 passengers on the flight. After boarding was completed, it took about 40 minutes to reach the taxiway. Meanwhile, the crew did not turn on the AC even as people complained of suffocation,” passengers including children and senior citizens were also seen demanding for water but that too was not provided. the flight was carrying a group of 25 elderly women besides other senior citizens.
A passenger in the plane said that “We were told that the AC will start working only after the plane is full of air. Finally, the flight took off around 4.50 pm, but still the air conditioning was not enough,” some passengers have complained to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) about the whole incident.
