The Sabarmati Riverfront Police booked a man for allegedly clicking pictures of a minor girl on the riverfront without her consent. accused identified as Mohammad Almas Iqrar Qureshi.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night at the Sabarmati riverfront when a 17-year-old girl, originally from Bhavnagar and currently residing in Ahmedabad’s Ranip area, was walking on the sidewalk of the riverfront. An individual named Yash Rajput approached the minor girl and conveyed that someone had been taking her photos.
Reacting to the information, the minor girl, along with her sister, approached the person and checked his phone. After verifying the photo on his phone, the minor girl promptly deleted it and reported the incident to the police.
While the police registered a case against the accused under section 354c of IPC, no section of the POCSO was invoked, despite the victim being a minor.
