Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt talked about her Gujarat roots while promoting Karan Johar directed -Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani at Vadodara-based Parul University.
While interacting with young students and fans at PU, Alia said her blood is ‘Gujarati” and her grand-father was a nagar-brahmin from Porbandar.
Dressed in a pink saree, Alia told the audience that her father Mahesh Bhatt is of Gujarati descent and her mother is of Kashmiri and British-German ancestry.
She said the patriarch of the family was Nanabhai Bhatt, a Hindu Nagar Brahmin from Porbandar, the coastal belt in Saurashtra.
Alia said despite being of Gujarati roots, she could not come to Gujarat to promote her previous film Gangubai Kathiawadi. “This is my first visit to Vadodara, so it is special. I have ordered Jalebis here and I am going to eat them later,”
