Another controversial decision has been taken by the Amdavad Municipal Corporation. The sports complex built on the Sabarmati riverfront will be handed over to Adani. The sports complex on the west bank of the Sabarmati riverfront was built at a cost of 16 crores while the complex on the east bank was built at a cost of 9 crores.
For the last one and a half years, there was a controversy regarding the privatization of the ready-made complex, which has now finally been handed over to Adani Sports.
According to the information, Adani’s sports agency will now manage this sports complex at an annual cost of 1.5 crores. A ready-made sports complex was prepared keeping in mind the likely Olympics in the year 2036.
A riverfront sports complex has been developed between Sardar Bridge and Ambedkar Bridge on the western side, at the back of NID and between Dadichi Bridge and Gandhi Bridge at the front.
Facilities including volleyball, basketball, tennis, skating have been prepared in the complex. An outdoor gym has also been set up along with table tennis, hockey for indoor games.
Talking about the West Bank sports complex, this riverfront sports complex has been designed in an area of 37040 square meters. It has 4 cricket pitches, 5 tennis courts, 4 table tennis courts, 4 multiple sports courts, skating ring and skate board, 800 meters jogging track, utility building and toilet block.
The East Bank riverfront sports complex is built on an area of 7503 sq.m. It has 5 cricket pitches, 2 basket ball-volleyball courts, 320 meters jogging track and children area.
