A 36-member swimming team, including former bronze medalist Virdhawal Khade, will represent India in the Asian Games Hangzhou 2023 to be held in September-October in Hangzhou.
The Swimming Federation of India (SFI) announced the squad on Saturday which includes 21 members in swimming, 2 in diving and 13 in water polo. the names of the players of the water polo team have not been announced yet.
Apart from the Khade, the 12-member men’s team also includes the star duo of Sajan Prakash and Srihari Nataraj. Khade won a bronze medal in the 50m butterfly at the 2010 Asian Games. the team also includes Anish Gowda and Aryan Nehra, who set four national records in the ongoing National Championship.
Olympian Mana Patel was included in the women’s swimming team. 23-year-old Mana Patel won gold in 100m backstroke and silver in 50m backstroke at the Swimming Nationals held in Hyderabad. ahmedabad’s Mana Patel will be given a tough challenge by the women’s swimming team players from China, Japan and East Asian countries in the Asian Games.
Aryan Nehra won four gold medals in Hyderabad. Aryan Nehra participated in 400m freestyle, 800m freestyle, 1500m freestyle and 400m single medley. Aryan Nehra won gold medals in all these four events. Aryan Nehra also broke national records in all four events. Aryan is now India’s top swimmer in all four categories.
