The Chopper Joy Rides were launched in Ahmedabad as Gujarat’s flagship project on January 1, 2022. These helicopter rides offer passengers a breathtaking aerial view of Ahmedabad as they take off from the Sabarmati Riverfront helipad and glide through the city.
Unfortunately, the services were temporarily discontinued in February 2023. However, the government has now decided to revive them starting from August 15.
The state tourism department had envisioned a range of recreational activities around the Sabarmati Riverfront, including seaplanes, helicopter rides, and the Sabarmati Riverfront Cruise Services. While the cruise service recently commenced, the helicopter Joy Rides were temporarily grounded earlier this year.
Sources within the Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Limited (GUJSAIL) have stated that the helicopter rides will recommence on August 15, with AeroTrance Services continuing to oversee the project.
The chopper rides, cherished by tourists and locals alike, are poised to elevate tourism in the heritage city by offering an affordable yet awe-inspiring opportunity to witness the vibrant metropolis from the sky.
The fares and routes will remain unchanged, offering passengers the opportunity to embark on a scenic journey from Sabarmati Riverfront helipad to Narendra Modi Stadium and Science City, with a return trip to the Riverfront. The flight duration will be approximately 10 minutes. The rides are said to be available on weekends, priced at Rs 2,360 plus taxes, ensuring accessibility for all.
