The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) intercepted two parcels at Foreign Post Office in Ahmedabad containing the prohibited narcotic substance MDMA. The parcels were headed for Daman and were being shipped from the Netherlands.
The MDMA tablets and MDMA powder weighing 87 gram, in commercial quantity, were seized under provisions of the NDPS Act 1985. MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, molly, ice, or meth, is a synthetic drug and is prohibited in India under NDPS Act.
The parcels were packed in a plastic transparent jar containing colorful plastic beads. the jar’s lid had a small silver-coloured pouch that was tightly concealed.
Multiple small, grey-coloured tablets with different markings were recovered from the parcels. the Forensic Science Laboratory tested both samples and confirmed the presence of MDMA in the two pouches.
