A travel agent from Ambawadi defrauded a resident of Naranpura and seven others of Rs 10 lakh on the pretext of giving tickets to Canada.
According to the complaint, Ashok Patel, who lives in Arjun Greens, contacted travel agent Niral Parekh, who lives near Sahajanand College Road in Ambavadi, in February. Patel initially booked tickets for himself and his wife by paying Rs 2.50 lakh. Subsequently, Patel’s friends and two family members also booked tickets through Parekh. Moreover, three of Patel’s relatives also availed Parekh’s services for booking their tickets.
To their dismay, none of the tickets were confirmed and on 27 April, Patel realized that Parekh had disappeared, leaving many others in a similar situation.
Ghatlodia police have registered a case against Parekh for breach of trust and cheating.
