This summer, a large number of devotees visited the Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple, also known as the Tirupati Balaji Temple, to see Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Vishnu, and ask for his blessings. This ultimately caused a significant rush at the temple, forcing the authority to alter the darshan procedure in order to prevent any mishaps, ease the facilities, and shorten the wait time. The modifications will be in effect until June 30, according to Sri YV Subba Reddy, Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). This intense summer rush was noted almost three years after Covid-induced limitations.
What are the new changes?
At the Tirupati Balaji temple, it takes nearly 30 to 40 hours for devotees without tokens to catch a glimpse of Lord Venkateswara. TTD has adjusted Arjita Sevas and VIP Break Darshan in light of this.
The discretionary quota in Suprabata Seva will be removed by the TTD for the three days of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The authority’s action will enable regular devotees to save 20 minutes..
It has also decided to perform Tiruppavada Seva in Ekantam every Thursday. The devotees will benefit by saving about 30 minutes .
Additionally, on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the TTD will not accept VIP recommendation letters. However, only self-VIPs will be allowed to break Darshan. This decision will allow for a three-hour reduction in Darshan time on those specific days.
To ensure that everyone who visits can enjoy a comfortable Srivari Darshan, the temple authority has also asked all devotees—including VIPs—to cooperate with one another.
According to the official website of TTD, presently, there are three pujas held at the temple: the first in the morning in conjunction with Thomala Seva, which is open to the public; the second in Madyahna, in the afternoon; and the third takes place in the night, which is strictly private and only attended by the archakas, paricharakas, and acharya purushas of the temple.
