Early on Wednesday morning, a leopard attacked Pada village in the Limkheda taluka of the Dahod district, killing a 45-year-old man. The same leopard left a 60-year-old woman seriously hurt, alarming the area.
The incident occurred when Champa Kanu Chauhan (60) and Ramesh Ratna Chauhan (45) were sleeping in the courtyard of their respective homes.
According to forest department officials, the leopard first attacked Champa in the courtyard of her house and then made its way to Ramesh, who suffered critical injuries. Ramesh had to be referred to the S S G hospital in Vadodara while both were taken directly to the Zydus civil hospital in Dahod.
According to the officials, he passed away while travelling to Vadodara. In the confusion and panic that the village experienced as a result of the two attacks, the leopard was able to flee. Champa is reportedly recovering from her severe wounds.
This is the second leopard attack in the area in two days. On Monday night, a leopard had attacked two children at Kulpari village of the taluka inside their home.
The incident had occurred when the father of the children accidentally left the door open during the night, giving the big cat access to the two children, who were fast asleep. The two children were rushed to Zydus hospital for treatment after they sustained injuries on their face.
