Traffic police are now cracking down on cars with dark window film after a drive to detain vehicles with flashy licence plates. The traffic police have fined 196 vehicles over the past 24 hours, including police and government vehicles.
According to the sources, the move has come in the wake of the upcoming Rathyatra. “The cops are keeping a tight vigil these days for the Rathyatra. And dark film on windows makes it difficult to look inside the vehicles,” said a source.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic-East, Safin Hasan said to sources, “Dark film on windows violate the norms of the Motor Vehicle Act. Thus, we conducted a drive wherein we fined 196 drivers and owners, and collected more than Rs 1 lakh in fine in last 24 hours. Earlier, we had detained 123 vehicles with fancy number plates.
