The AMC Gardens are now open until 11 p.m. The heat has become fierce even in the month of April. In the afternoon, people hardly ever leave the house. The gardens of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will now be open until 11 p.m.
According to information, the civic organisation will keep all 283 of its gardens open to the public until 11 p.m. as part of the heat action plan. Additionally, it mandates a rest period for workers at construction sites from noon to 4 p.m.
To ensure adherence to the heat action plan for the following two months, a team from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) health department will conduct site inspections in their respective zones. Additionally, anganwadis will be open until 11.30 am, at which point the kids will be sent home.
A senior health official of AMC said, “All municipal urban health centers in the zone will remain open till 7 pm to cater to citizens. Sanitation workers will report to their respective muster stations at 4.30 pm instead of 3 pm.”
The official also said that 500 city points, including all BRTS stops and 31 AMTS bus depots, would have water and ORS booths set up. The AMC health officer added that some portable water kiosks will also be positioned at significant public locations.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Director of Industrial Safety and Health has issued a notification, directing builders, employers and contractors to give rest to workers engaged in construction activities from 1 pm to 4 pm daily.
