Reliance Consumer Products, a Reliance Retail Ventures-backed FMCG company, may soon enter the fast-growing ice cream market with its new brand “Independence,” which was launched in Gujarat last year.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the company is in talks with a Gujarat-based ice cream manufacturer about outsourcing production.
According to industry experts, Reliance’s entry will increase competition in the organised ice-cream market.
RIL did not respond to an email questionnaire.
According to sources, the company, which aims to provide indigenously developed products in the FMCG segment, is nearing the end of negotiations with the Gujarat-based ice cream manufacturer in order to launch its ice cream this summer through its dedicated grocery retail outlets.
The Independence brand provides products such as edible oils, pulses, grains and packaged foods.
