After a prolonged hiatus of two years, the 10th edition of ‘Blithchron’, the annual cultural festival of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), is set to make a triumphant offline return in full swing on February 18-19, 2023.
The excitement and tempo are vibing at the Institute as this year’s festival will showcase all of its signature events along with several exciting new additions like ‘Aerosol’- a graffiti competition, and ‘Street Beat’- a solo dance battle unique to Blithchron, among others. Every year, Blithchron hosts a number of flagship events that never cease to amaze attendees. ‘Panache’, a highly-anticipated fashion show, attracts a massive audience every year. ‘Synchronize’, a flagship dance event, witnesses top-selected dance teams showcase their best moves on the stage of Blithchron. And then there is ‘Antaragnee’, a popular street play/nukkad natak event that always leaves its audience in awe.
Blithchron 2023, which is part of the ongoing ‘Theatre and Performing Arts Festival’ at IITGN, offers an incredible lineup of 11 exciting events that cater to a variety of interests and talents:
- Aerosol – Unleash your artistic side in the wall painting competition.
- Synchronize – Groove to the rhythm and sync up with your crew in the group dance performances.
- Unkahi – Speak your mind and share your thoughts in the slam poetry event.
- Street Beat – Battle it out with your electrifying dance moves.
- BlithCube Open – Show off your cubing skills in association with World Cube Association.
- Euphony – Sing your heart out and win big in the solo/duet singing competition.
- Quizzitch – Put your knowledge to the test and compete against other Potter heads, FRIENDS, and GOT fans in the ultimate quizzing competition.
- String Theory – Let the music flow and rock the stage in the competition for the bands.
- Antaragnee – Take the street as your stage and showcase your acting skills in the nukkad natak competition.
- Panache – Strut your stuff and battle in style in the fashion competition.
- Skirmish – Show off your gaming skills in the sports event.
The two-day festival will conclude with grand performances by DJ Ravator and Sabali – The Band in Pronites, which is open to all. DJ Ravator is known for his high-energy performances and unique sound with a mix of genres, including house, techno, and electro. He has performed at some of the biggest music festivals and clubs around the world. Sabali is a popular band known for its unique fusion of different musical styles packed with energy and passion. The band members come from different parts of the world, and their music reflects the diversity of their backgrounds. Their music draws on a wide range of genres, including reggae, hip-hop, rock, and traditional African music, to create a sound that is both familiar and fresh.
Being an entirely student-run cultural festival, Blithchron embodies an amalgamation of the creativity and energy of a team of more than a hundred students of IITGN to provide a grand stage to talented artists from all over the country.
Hundreds of participants have registered for Blithchron’23 from institutions across the country, as well as some participants from the UK and Nepal, to visit and participate in the festival during these two days. Students of Gujarat-based institutions like NID, NIFT, PDEU, DAIICT, IIIT Vadodara, and others are also going to participate in the event.
