Aniket Talati, an Ahmedabad-based chartered accountant, was elected President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Sunday. He is the youngest President of the ICAI in its 74-year history, having taken office at the age of 36.
His father, CA Sunil Talati, became the first Gujarati to be elected President of the ICAI in 2007. Aniket Talati is the third generation of the CA family, with his grandfather CA HM Talati founding the Ahmedabad branch of the ICAI in 1962.
For nine years, HM Talati served on the ICAI’s Central Council. The ICAI has over 3.75 million members and over 8 million students. With five regional councils, 166 branches, 44 overseas chapters, and 33 representatives, it is the world’s second-largest accounting body.
