In response to real-estate developers’ demands, the Gujarat government has decided to postpone the increase in jantri prices until April 15, 2023.
The state government has decided to suspend the order issued on February 4 and implement it on April 15 in the larger interest of the common man and the real-estate sector, according to a statement. The government gave no explanation for its decision.
This decision comes a day after members of real-estate associations met with the Ahmedabad district collector and submitted a memorandum requesting jantri rate postponement and partial rollback. Jenu Devan, the Inspector General of Registration and Superintendent of Stamps, met with real-estate developers on Friday.
The government announced a 100% increase in jantri rates on February 4. After a 12-year period, these rates increased. The developers even met with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel after the decision was made.
Former chairman of CREDAI National Jaxay Shah welcomed the decision and said, “Very practical and pragmatic step by our empathetic, hardworking and honest chief minister Bhupendrabhai. We thank our respected leaders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.”
