The city civic body on Friday finalized the annual budget for 2023-24.
The total budget is Rs. 9,482 crore, with a provision of Rs 3,974 crore for development projects.
As part of the city’s preparations to host the 2036 Olympic Games, the standing committee of the Ahmedabad Municipal Commission (AMC) has decided to renovate the Sardar Patel stadium for Rs 25 crore.
For the establishment of yoga and meditation centres for women in the city, the civic body has also contributed Rs 7 crore. Every area of the city will see the development of these centres.
The civic body will spend Rs 250 crore on constructing two new RCC roads in every zone during the year.
It will spend Rs 15 crore to provide every residential society with garbage bins of 80-litre capacity.
The AMC will procure five new super sucker machines to clean roads for Rs 10 crore.
Two new crematoriums will be built by the civic organisation in the city, one at Lambha and the other at Kathwada. The AMC has chosen to spend Rs 10 crore on the purchase of two snorkels with a 104m height and three vehicles with drone mounts for the fire brigade.
The civic organisation will build senior citizen parks for the elderly in Thaltej and Chandkheda. Additionally, the corporation has decided to increase the grant given annually to council members from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 40 lakh.
