A concerned police department urged the public to reserve parking spaces for the game on Wednesday in light of the third T20 international match between India and New Zealand that will be played in Ahmedabad on February 1.
Only 300 people have used the “Show My Parking” mobile application launched by the Gujarat Cricket Association, out of the 50,000 tickets reserved for the game. In a statement released on Sunday, the GCA also noted that the application had included special parking considerations for fans with disabilities.
DCP Traffic West NH Desai said, “Keeping in light the massive influx of traffic to the stadium on match day, maximum number of people who have booked tickets should get their allotted parking to avoid inconvenience.”
For those who fail to get their allotted parking on the application, signages will be put up on all approaches and access roads to the stadium. With the help of QR codes, directions will be given to specific slots at the 18 parking spots allotted for match day.
For those hoping to avoid traffic by taking public transportation, there is good news. On February 1, the Ahmedabad Metro will operate up to the stadium, and instead of running every 20–25 minutes, trains will run every 15 minutes. Aside from that, BRTS and AMTS buses will be able to travel unhindered on specific routes.
Notably, the road from Janpath T to Motera T will be restricted for vehicles on February 1 and instead, the road from Tapovan can be used to reach Janpath T.
The India and NZ teams will reach the city on Monday.
