Three family members were killed when their car collided with a tanker near Dhrol town in Jamnagar district on State Highway 25 in the early hours of Friday.
The incident occurred around 12 a.m. near the Ashapur Hotel in Jayva village near Dhrol town, when Nayan Moradiya (55), his wife Nayna, son Ravi, grandchildren Aarav and Aarvi (2), Ravi’s wife Vidhi, and Nayan’s mother-in-law Mukta Ramoliya (75) were returning to Jamnagar from a marriage function in Rajkot.
According to a FIR filed at Dhrol police station, a tanker with the registration number of Punjab that was ahead of Nayan’s car abruptly took a turn, causing the Moradiyas’ car to collide with it from behind.
According to police, Nayan and Ramoliya died on the spot after suffering serious head injuries when their car turned turtle. Nayna, Ravi, Vidhi, Aarv and Aarvi, and others were rushed to Jamnagar’s GG Hospital. According to police, doctors at the Jamnagar hospital declared Aarvi brought-dead.
Police arrested the unidentified tanker driver on the basis of a complaint filed by Nayan’s relative Arvind Chhatrola under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by rash or negligent act endangering human life), (causing grievous hurt by rash or negligent act endangering human life), and 304A. (causing death by negligence).
