Its members include the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Gujarat High Court Chief Justice Aravind Kumar, Gujarat law minister Rushikesh Patel, solicitor general of India Tushar Mehta, Gujarat government chief secretary Pankaj Kumar, prof Errol D’Souza, IIMA director, Himanshu Pandya, vice-chancellor of Gujarat University, among other

Justice Bela Trivedi, who has been involved with the GNLU since its founding in 2004 while she was the Government of Gujarat’s Law Secretary, is also among the three who have been nominated and inducted into the general council. With the exception of a few brief periods, she has since served on the university’s General Council and Executive Council.

The GNLU General Council has included Senior Advocate and Additional Solicitor General of India SV Raju since 2018, and he has recently been nominated for a second term.

Prof. Ranbir Singh, the pro-chancellor of IILM University, is the third candidate. The National Law University in Delhi and NALSAR in Hyderabad were both founded by Singh, who also served as vice chancellor.
