The Ahmedabad Metro railway’s operating hours will be temporarily extended by four hours beginning on January 30 by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (GMRCL).
A government announcement states that for one month, Ahmedabad phase one Metro trains will operate from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. The Metro railway is currently open from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. The decision was made, to “facilitate students and office-goers.”
The north-south corridor has trips every 25 minutes, which can be increased to trips every 15 minutes (during peak hours), according to the release, “looking at the current demand,” while the east-west corridor has trips every 18 minutes.
For now, starting on January 30, the Metro service will operate according to the new schedule for one month. According to the press release, “the future timetable will be decided after a study on the actual need.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the first phase’s two corridors in September of last year, and they have been in use ever since.
