Rishabh Pant has been shifted from Dehradun to Mumbai for further treatment. On December 30, 2022, the India wicketkeeper-batsman was severely injured in a car accident. Pant was driving from Delhi to Roorkee, Uttarakhand, when the accident took place. The youngster has suffered severe wrist and knee injuries, and his return to the Indian team is currently uncertain. Pant may also miss the Indian Premier League, which runs from April to June.
The youngster was admitted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, following the horrific incident on December 30, 2022. Pant was on his way back to his hometown to see his family before heading to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for knee strength and conditioning. Pant is expected to be transferred to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital. Pant underwent a series of plastic surgeries and MRI scans following his accident. The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) was considering airlifting Pant and moving him to Delhi at one point, but he recovered quickly and will now proceed with his ligament treatment.
Following the tragic accident on the Delhi-Haridwar highway, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been closely monitoring pant’s condition on a regular basis. Before treating Pant’s ligament injuries, doctors at Max Hospital in Dehradun were strictly instructed to consult with the BCCI’s medical team. Prior to this incident, the wicketkeeper-batsman was dropped from the ODI and T20 squads that were chosen to face Sri Lanka. Pant was said to have niggle in his knees that required the NCA’s immediate attention. The Delhi Capitals captain was expected to be fully fit before the start of the important Border-Gavaskar Trophy in February-March 2023.
