Over the last 60 years, these donors have collected 56.65 lakh units of blood, increasing Ahmedabad’s Blood Donor to Population (BDP) ratio to four times the national average of 0.9% and 2.5 times the global average of 1.5%.
Notably, between 1963 and 2022, the Red Cross in Ahmedabad collected 56.65 lakh units of 450 ml each, totaling 254.925 crore ml. If a 3 mm diameter collection tube was used, it would stretch 3,60,573 km, the shortest distance between the Earth and the Moon.
