As Covid-19 regulations are tightened once more, UAE citizens travelling to India have been given new instructions. Air India Express has issued new rules governing passengers on flights from the UAE to India. For visitors from the UAE, the recommendations include immunisations and mask use.
All visitors should ideally be fully immunised against Covid-19 in accordance with their country’s primary immunisation schedule.
All visitors should wear masks and adhere to physical segregation on flights and during travel.
After arriving, all visitors should monitor their health and report any symptoms to the nearest medical facility or call the national helpline number (1075) or state helpline number.
The Indian Union Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has announced a rule requiring 2% of all arriving foreign passengers to submit to random Covid testing.
According to the government organisation, the random testing would be done on passengers who have been approved by the airlines and come from a variety of countries. Passengers are only permitted to leave the airport after submitting samples.
Children under the age of 12 are exempt from post-arrival random testing. However, they must be tested and treated according to protocol if they are found to be symptomatic for Covid-19 upon arrival or during self-monitoring.
The action came after the nation’s Covid-19 situation was discussed at a high-level meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.
Reiterating that the pandemic is still ongoing, Modi directed that current surveillance efforts be increased, particularly at international airports.
