A 20-year-old woman was allegedly killed by Aman in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district by being stabbed 51 times with a screwdriver after she refused to talk to him, police said on Tuesday.
According to superintendent of police (Korba city) Vishwadipak Tripathi, the incident happened on December 24 in the pump house colony of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL).
According to the police, the victim was home alone when the accused arrived. He put a pillow over her mouth to block her screams and then stabbed her 51 times with a screwdriver.
The victim’s brother found her in a pool of blood when he arrived home later, said official.
Vishwadipak Tripathi said that preliminary investigations have shown that the accused who is from the Jashpur district, befriended the victim three years ago when he was employed as a conductor in a bus and she frequently travel by it.
The accused later relocated to Ahmedabad in Gujarat for work and continued to communicate with the woman by phone. The official claimed that the accused also threatened the woman’s parents after she hung up the phone with him.
Case has been filed and four police teams have been organised to find the abscoding accused, he added.
