Gujarat man dies attempting to climb “Trump wall”, wife and son injured

Man trying to enter the United States of America illegally died after falling while scaling the border wall between US and Mexico. His wife and 3-year-old son also suffered serious injuries in the incident occurred on Wednesday.

Officials stated on Friday that the Gujarat Police have opened an investigation into the reported death of a man from Gandhinagar who had attempted to cross the US-Mexico border wall also known as the “Trump Wall” but had been unsuccessful. According to some news reports in the US media, the deceased was Brijkumar Yadav, a citizen of Gandhinagar district’s Kalol taluka.

According to some media reports, he was working in GIDC factory in Kalol. All three family members fell from a significant height.

Yadav’s son fell on the Mexican side of the wall while his wife fell on the US side. The state’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) launched an investigation after learning about the incident from the media in order to gather information and bring any agents responsible for the illegal immigration of people to justice.

“After coming to know about the incident through media, I have ordered a probe and asked the Deputy SP of our Anti-Human Trafficking Cell to investigate the entire matter,” Additional Director General of Police (DGP), CID – Crime and Railways, R B Brahmbhatt, said.

Gandhinagar Superintendent of Police Tarun Kumar Duggal also launched a separate probe to trace the family of the victim. “The news reports suggest that the deceased was a native of Uttar Pradesh or Delhi and settled in Kalol with his family. We have formed a team to trace the family of the victim. As of now, his family has not contacted the police for any help,” Duggal said.
