Gujarat will host at least 15 G20 meetings in the coming year in Ahmedabad, Surat, Gandhinagar, Kutch, and Ektanagar, with preparations reviewed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via videoconference on Friday evening.
The meeting took place immediately after the model code of conduct was lifted following the conclusion of the Assembly elections, in which the BJP reclaimed power with more than 50% of the vote.
According to a government release, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel informed the prime minister about the various committees that had been formed for security, protocol, logistics, and travel, as well as arrangements for showcasing tourist destinations, local cuisine, history, and heritage to the guests.
Aside from Modi and Patel, the meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Governor Acharya Devvrat, and G20 sherpa Amitabh Kant.
